If you need to move your Inventu Viewer server to another hardware host, or are changing the hardware/virtual IP address, here are the possible places you need to reconfigure with the new IP Address.
- If you have clustered servers, on each server use the Admin Console / Service Settings / ClusterServers to change the IP address for each of the other servers in your cluster--here is an example of changing the IP address of a server to 10.2.23.15:
- If your prior VM or new VM require identifying which of the possible physical or virtual IP addresses to listen on for HTTP/HTTPS requests in IIS, you need to change the Binding for the "Site" that FVTerm is running under:
A) Open the IIS Manager and find the site (probably Default Web Site) in the leftside treeview
B) Click on the site to set available Actions
C) In the Actions panel to the right, click on "Bindings..."
D) Edit the https and if there, http bindings to enable clicking the Edit button
E) Change the IP address that the site listens on:
- Mainframe IP-restricted security-- note that at a number of levels, your Mainframe or other host may have restrictions on which systems can connect based on IP address. As there are many different implementation possibilities, changing such a setting is beyond the scope of this article--please check with your mainframe system administrators to request that if a restriction is in place, that the new IP address(es) are added.
- Firewall configuration-- your network firewalls need to be updated if IP address and not DNS name is being used to allow connections -- check with your firewall administrators to request any needed changes.
- Load balancer-- if your servers are clustered, there will be a "farm" or collection of servers defined in your Firewall or, if separate, your load balancer. The IP addresses of your servers will need to be updated if DNS names are not being used to manage the cluster.
- DNS server(s) -- if your servers are setup with a DNS name and not just IP addresses, the DNS configuration will be need to be updated to reflect the new server IP addresses.
